Elk Threat Behavior

Approaching in early morning fog, a big rutting bull elk displays a threat behavior as he walks through the grass in a frosty meadow. This behavior is often referred to as a "head-high threat" posture, where the elk orients his neck low and head high. This display is typically accompanied by flaring of the nostrils and grinding of the teeth.
